About Me

Steven catches the build up to the Hurricane

I’m Steven a landscape photographer who was born and grew up in the Scottish Borders, studied in Edinburgh, lived and worked in Glasgow and now lives at Rockpool House in the heart of the beautiful West Highland Peninsulas of Sunart, Morvern, Moidart, Ardgour and Ardnamurchan.

Self-catering accommodation is available at Rockpool House and it is a great place base oneself for a photographic exploration of the area. It would also make a for a good place to stay if you booked one of my tuition or guidance sessions.

I consider myself to be so lucky to now be living on Scotland’s North-West coast as I’ve been drawn to its grandeur for years. The Lonely Planet guide says of the North-West Coast:

“Quintessential wilderness such as this, marked by single-track roads, breath-taking emptiness and a wild, fragile beauty, makes this perhaps Scotland's most evocative region. The scenic majesty is never forgotten.”

It is indeed a place of beauty. A place that has inspired me to pick up a camera and embark on a journey to capture and share a little of that beauty. This journey, a photographic journey, started around 5 years ago when I went on an introduction to landscape photography course gifted to me by my wonderful wee wife, Lynne. This opened my eyes to the true beauty of Scotland’s landscape. A beauty that can only be truly appreciated by taking time out from our busy modern-day lives to take a look. And I mean really take a look. Look at the landscape. Look at the light. Look at Scotland.

So please. Take a wee bit of time out. Take a wee look around my website. Take a wee look at Scotland.
