Still Under the Stars - Kentra Bay, Gobshealach, Ardnamurchan

There was not a breath of wind on this night under the stars, so the boats moored up in Kentra Bay sat perfectly still under the Milky Way while a bright red Mars, low on the horizon, was reflected in the water.

Morning Mist - Ploughlands, near Nisbet, Scottish Borders

The warm days and cool nights of autumn created the perfect conditions for morning mist to form in the Teviot Valley. As I waited for the sun to rise, a light breeze started up and slowly moved the mist up the valley towards my vantage point at Ploughlands which overlooked Eckford. In a few moments the intense golden light appeared to create this scene and was gone just as quickly as the mist enveloped both me and the rolling Borders’ countryside. A truly magical moment.

On a clear night in April 2015, I was fortunate enough to capture this Stellar Triple made up of Venus being reflected in Clatteringshaws Loch, Northern Lights showing up as far south as Dumfries and Galloway and a Lyrid Meteor from a meteor shower that generally lasts for less than a day.

Winter Surf - Bagh Steinigidh, Isle of Harris

On this early morning in January, the sun gradually rose from the east to reach over the Isle of Harris and began to cast light on the rocks of Bagh Steinigidh on its western side. Bagh Steinigidh is a bay that is quite exposed to the Atlantic so the high rollers at the front of a coming storm rushed over the rocks, onto the beach and back out again. Needless to say, I got my feet wet capturing this moment, but it was well worth it.
