Arranging Tuition & Guidance
If you would like to arrange some tuition or guidance, please click on the “Arrange a Session” link below. This will open a contact form and add the following information:
• The type of session you would like to book
• Any dates that you have in mind for your session
• A telephone number at which we can contact you
We will then get in touch to discuss and understand what you’d like to get from the session, to confirm pricing and to arrange dates.
Once this has been done, you can secure your session by paying a £50 deposit by cheque, bank transfer or PayPal. The balance would then be due 1 week prior to the date you have booked.
Please note that you do have the option of staying with us at Rockpool House, should your session form part of your holiday. For information on our self-catering apartment visit the Rockpool House website.
Photography Workshops for Beginners
Have you just got a new camera, but are not sure how to use it and confused by all the buttons and features?
Have you had your camera a little while, but are stuck using auto and standard icon modes and want to take better photographs?
Then why not take some time to learn how to get the best out of your camera with some one-to-one tuition that will show you how to take full control?
We offer one-to-one beginners photography sessions throughout the West Highland Peninsulas of Sunart, Morvern, Moidart, Ardgour and Ardnamurchan. So, if you live in the area or are planning to be here on holiday, then one of these sessions could be for you.
As everyone’s needs are different, your session will be tailored to your needs, depending on how well you know your camera and understand photography. However, we will focus on two aspects. Firstly, how to take control of your camera and secondly how to take creative control of your photography.
Each session will be around 4 hours long and can be held at our base at Rockpool House on the shore of Loch Sunart or at a location of your choosing in Sunart, Morvern, Moidart, Ardgour or Ardnamurchan.
We will begin with a few questions to help us understand what you would like to get out of the session, followed by some time to cover how your camera works and then composition, aperture, exposure time and ISO setting. For the final part of the session we will bring it all together so that you can practice your new skills by photographing the stunning scenery we have in this area.
By the end of it all you will be able to shoot in Manual Mode and control the brightness, focus and motion blur in your photos. You will also have a basic understanding of composition and some simple rules to make your photos more dramatic and aesthetically pleasing.
All you’ll need for the session will be your digital camera, fully charged batteries and your instruction manual. Also, if you have a tripod, please bring it along, but if not, we can loan you with one. Also, don’t worry if the sessions overrun a little as the most important thing is that you get what you need out of them.
4-hour session - £100 (for one person)
Additional hours - £25/hour (if requested by customer)
Additional Person - £25 per person (up to 3 people in total)
